Bootlegs-R-Us
Check out some sales from this person: http://japanesecandy06.livejournal.com/

Specifically, here's their link to their DVD sales: http://rainblood.com/crustration/japanesecandy/anime.htm

Just... oh my God, the Holy Grail of bootlegs. I was first alerted to this when I was going through my Friends List and communities, and I found a post by this user advertising some amazing Death Note collection.

Episodes 1 - 37, one single disc. Not to mention, the box art does not exist on any legitimately released Death Note DVD. Also, Japanese Language audio/English subs? Never release that way, not to mention Japan doesn't do that (China sure does like to, though!). Region 1? No. MPEG-2? No. Not legitimate.

Looking at other DVDs, like certain Live-Action stuff available here. One of them, I was able to read a little. The English description on the back of the box was QUITE terrible, barely even readable.

Oh, but here was what was particularly the kicker to me... here's their release of Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne:

Episodes 1 - 44, Japanese language audio/English subs... you know, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne was NEVER released in the US (or any English speaking country as far as I know). But... wait, what's that down at the bottom of the back of the box...?

Do you see that...? Disney's castle logo? Pixar!? Since when did Pixar ever do anything while teamed up with Disney that was NOT CGI animated? WOW, that's bad!

Okay... I'm done ranting and raving about this for now.

44 episodes on one disc? My GOD, the macroblocking must be atrocious! At best it'd be like watching a mosaic of legos!

And the Pixar logo... that's funny!

Believe it or not, I like those kind of bootlegs. Why? Because this kind of crap would only fool the stupidest of people, and even if someone got suckered, they'd learn straight away to stay AWAY from em' from then on.

There will always be people selling bootlegs.

Even at DragonCon this year there were people selling bootlegs, right in the dealer's room. >_<.

I always find it amusing when a bootleg has a UPC. They're trying their best to look semi-legit!

But then they go and hyphenate decides as "deci-des" and eventually as "event-ually" on the back blurb. So much for putting the hyphen between syllables. That plus the grammatical structure of the blurb make it clear that it was written by someone with English (or at least Engrish) as a second language.

Love the Pixar logo.

And as for Death Note, I had a friend torrent, err, I mean legitimately download it from somewhere... And 37 episodes on 1 disc??? Wow.

Least they try to make it look legitimate? I guess?

Just keep in mind that the grammer and word choices might be horrible. It's almost always that way on bootlegs unless they illegally rip the scripts from fansubs, or it's a series in america that they've ripped the dvd's of, which obviousely these aren't. Ever go to import-anime.com? I used to buy from them a long long time ago (possibly in a galaxy far away, too).

I couldn't even finish watching cheeky angel.
